Somewhat rare in these parts and certainly a first of fall sighting for the
Hammer this year, a Red Knot is present at Windermere Basin today. Looks to
be a juvenile bird.

bit of an uptick in sightings at Presqu'ile Provincial Park in the last
week. However, those expecting masses of shorebirds as in previous years
were ticked off by their almost total absence. Perhaps birders are

While birding at the Windermere Basin in Hamilton this afternoon, I took
some pictures of a shoal where several ducks and cormorants were sitting.
When I returned home and took a proper look at the photos, I noticed that
one of the cormorants appeared to be a good match for a Great Cormorant. In
