Greater Snow Geese have arrived en masse as of the weekend, a full two
weeks earlier than expected and record early in large numbers. Another
large flight may take place by next week. There is virtually no ice on the
St. Lawrence and little or no snow in the southern part of the United
Counties of
Seen today at Windermere Basin in Hamilton, at least 1 Eastern Meadowlark
calling from a treetop. There may have been 3 as I caught a glimpse of 3
birds flying away and a short time later the 1 went up to the treetop where
I could ID and photograph it. Another early arrival keeping company with 3

Hi Gang,
As I was scanning through the 10,000+ CAGE looking for a Cackling (no luck),
approximately 1000 snow geese flew in and landed in the river. This was on
Rainbow Valley Road, across the Rideau from Edmonds Lockstation.

Apparently the Wigeons have all flown out of the field and have not returned.
They may circle back at some point this is often a good field for a variety of
ducks

Possibly a breakaway flock from the Tundra Swans at the north end of Bathurst St., 42 (plus 5 Trumpeters) have recently arrived, joining about 300+ Canada Geese in a flooded field on the north side of Ravenshoe Rd., about 3/4 to 1 km west of Bruce St. Much closer to the road than those on
Sarah Lamond found a male Eurasian wigeon some time ago in a flooded field in
flamboroough on concession 5 west of lynden road on the south side. Barb
Charlton and I redound the bird a short time ago at the back of the flooded
area with some American wigeon. A scope is mandatory. Nice find
What is probably the same bird that has been on Appleton Side Rd in Lanark
County has been relocated on Rushmore Rd. In Ottawa. This location is west of
Richmond Rd and about 1.5 km south of Fallowfield Rd in the south west area of
Ottawa. The Appleton bird was not reported yesterday despite
