I just received a report (with photos) of two American White Pelicans
visiting a bay on Lower Rideau Lake, just south of Smiths Falls. The
observer mentioned that they've been there for a week now. The birds are
located near the southwestern edge of Slab Island, apparently frequenting a
This afternoon during heavy rain we saw and heard an Upland Sandpiper on a
fence rail inside the wire fence of the Nature Conservancy, Napanee Plains
Alvar.
Also there were, at least 4 Brown Thrashers singing in the area as well.
These birds were seen from Nugent Rd about 1 km. northeast of

at relatively close range. The pond is at the south east corner of the Adjala
/ Tecumseth townline and the 13th concession. Go south on King street from

The beach in Leamington had 21 Willets late morning through early afternoon
until dogs flushed them. There was also a Sanderling and adult Lesser
Black-backed Gull.
The beach is at Seacliffe Park near the ferry dock.

ONTBIRDS is
I birded the Port Weller pier in St Catharines, Niagara Region for a few hours
this afternoon before and during the heavy rains. The highlight was a Purple
Sandpiper on the rocks by the lighthouse at the east end of the pier, which
landed in front of me while I was trying (unsuccessfully) to
Mini fallout of passerines in Wet Woods at Tommy Thomson Park.
9 warblers, including Canada, 3 flycatchers, 4 vireos (2 seen by others),
grosbeaks, Purple Finches, Solitary Sandpiper(possibly 2), American
Bittern(seen by other birder).

Hi everyone,
This morning was the most active for birds so far this spring. There were
at least 13 species of warblers found in the woods and meadow between 7:00
and 9:00 a.m. New for the year for me were Black-throated Blue,
Chestnut-sided, Blackburnian, Northern Parula, Ovenbird, and
The Black necked Stilt is still present at the Tilbury Lagoons. See previous
emails for directions.
Also, Solitary Sandpiper.
Black Crowned Nightheron flew through.

Slow but steady birding today throughout the Park between rain showers. About
12 species of warbler have been reported thus far today. No sign of the Fish
Crow that was near the Visitor Centre yesterday evening. The Eared Grebe is

The Henslow's Sparrow is still being seen at 1230 pm on west beach trail. It
was 100-125 mts south of half way tram stop on the east side of trail.

Male Painted Bunting still located at 22262 Hwy. 41 Denbigh Ontario. Spent
the entire day yesterday at feeders. Was spotted feeding again this morning
first at 7:00am and has been active all morning. Be aware, driveway to
residence is long (1/2 km) but still accessible.

There is a Henslow's Sparrow present along the west beach trail 150 yards south
of midway tram stop. Still being observed at 8:50am.
