In 1974 a group of area birders belonging to the Hamilton Naturalists’
Club, led by the late Dave Copeland, worked with the fledgling Hawk
Migration Association of North America (HMANA) and set up a spring
hawkwatch at Beamer Memorial Conservation Area, located off Quarry Road on

I'm not sure of the level of birder coverage today, but, sadly, there were
no reports of the LAZB. Hopeful thinking here, but, who knows...it could
still be in the neighbourhood!

No reports of the LAZB yesterday (January 31st) and none so far today
(February 1). Birders are considering that the bird could be visiting
another feeder in the area; hard to say for sure, of course. I will post

Even colder temperatures this week produced the polar vortex version of the
“Groundhog Day” movie (1993) here with respect to bird reports: little change!
Boreal resident sightings included two SPRUCE GROUSE at Spruce Bog Boardwalk on
Jan 26. That location and Opeongo Road north of the winter
