east of Vanessa. They may still be in the area.

At noon today 3 Chimney Swifts were circling over the
town of Norwich in Oxford County.
Norwich is on highway #59, south of Woodstock
and # 401 and #403 highways.

I just had a new yard bird - the first Brewster's Warbler
that has ever been here.
It was bathing at the pond waterfall.

Southwest of Brantford and north of Simcoe near Highway #24.
My feeder redpoll count went up to about 130 last week and I searched and
searched the flock for a hoary with no success until yesterday when I found
a single female Hoary (exilipes) in the flock. It was here again today - a
first for my yard list.

Very suprised to find a female Evening Grosbeak at my feeder this morning.
Didi not see it in the early afternoon and have been out since
mid-afternoon.

On Wed. Feb 22, robins and cedar waxwings were here.
On Thur. Feb. 23, 2 pairs of bluebirds checked out nest boxes.
Today, Fri. Feb 24, a grackle is at the feeder.

Viewed from my windows in the past 3 days, in addition to regular visitors
which include Hairy and Red-bellied Woodpecker, were Eastern Bluebird (3),
Pine Siskin (20 - they have stayed), Northern Shrike (1) and Sharp-shinned
Hawk (1). This morning's snow squall resulted in appearances by Cedar
Wax
A Fox Sparrow visited my yard this morning. Other years, arrivals have been
between March 31 and April 6. This is the earliest I've had one here in
Vanessa.
