Early Boxing Day another observer and I had 3 of the continuing Purple
Sandpipers and the Dunlin together at Owen Point. The shorebirds were skittish,
at one point flying to Gull Island and not returning. A Snowy Owl on Gull
Island could also be seen from the Point, as well as a dark morph
Found a Red Phalarope on the beach side of the Erieau pier just after 3:00 pm
today. Steve Charbonneau and Keith Burk showed up shortly after I found it to
view it as well.

A Willet found on Saturday was seen multiple times on Sunday. I saw it last at
the pond at the Beach 3/4 area. However, I heard it was last seen in the Beach
2 area moving towards Beach 1.

Today at about 2:30 pm, I was very surprised to find a Least Bittern
standing at the edge of the ice, at an almost entirely frozen Columbia
Lake, just north of the main campus of the University of Waterloo. It seems

The Cattle Egret was refound today during a young birders Birdathon. This time
we spotted it on the east side of Huff Rd, south of the barns. South of the
railroad tracks. However both sides of Huff should be searched.
There are also Cliff Swallows and field birds at this location.

I pished in (what I’m assuming is the same White-eyed Vireo individual from the
lawn location near Bloor and Keele in High Park), south of the original
location, on a trail just west of a beech tree with a fence around it and just
south of a huge broken cherry tree.

Yesterday in the frigid cold, the continuing Harlequin Duck at Cherry Beach
was there. While I was there it was too far for a proper picture, then
later I heard from another birder that it was within 30 feet of the shore.
Of note there was also 2 Iceland Gulls and a Rough-legged Hawk at Cherry
