corner of Hamilton Harbour this morning, viewed from Eastport Dr.

Yesterday morning (when it was -30 including the wind chill) Kim and I
heard a Carolina Wren singing in our backyard (west Hamilton - Dundurn
Ave/Aberdeen Ave area).

A good morning for birds on Hamilton Harbour behind Canada Centre for
Inland Waters.
- 2 Peregrine Falcons
- 1 Bald Eagle (adult) being chased by one of the above mentioned PEFA
- approx. 115 adult and immature Trumpeter Swans
- 100's of diving ducks in a small pocket of open water
On Tuesday morning (Apr 1) Paul Mikoda and I heard an Eastern Phoebe
while at the Doon Wastewater Treatment Plant in the south end of
Kitchener. Doon WTP is located off Mill Park Dr with the bird sounding
like it was close to the trails that run along the Grand River at this
location.

Yesterday (Feb 28/08) I observed 8 Bald Eagles in the area of Hamilton
Harbour immediately west and south of Canada Centre for Inland Waters
and the Ship Canal.
At one point 6 were sitting together on the ice quite near the SW corner
of CCIW property while another 2 were further away on the ice.
On Sunday afternoon Kim and I enjoyed a 3 hour kayak at Luther
Marsh/Lake. Here are some of the bird highlights:
- Bald Eagle (1 adult)
- Osprey (4 - all seemed to be associated with one nest)
- Norther Harrier (1)
- Great Egrets (5)
- Black-crowned Night Herons (2)
- Common Loon (2 pairs)

On Sun. March 7 at 4:30 p.m. while driving near Port Dover, we observed a
flock of approx. 150 Snow Geese flying over Haldimand-Norfolk Rd 3 (near
intersection of Haldimand-Norfolk Rd 5).
