At dusk on Saturday, September 1, two white 'herons' were observed by myself
at the Rouge Beach Park marsh.
I have not observed very many of these birds, but they seemed smaller than I

Orchard Oriole singing. It flew to various locations within the reserve.

At Gordon Richards Park, along the Waterfront Trail, I observed a small
sparrow fitting the description of the Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow, both
plummage and song. I have never seen one before so I am hestitant to be
dogmatic re: ID.
The bird was very tam

Today, February 21.
There is a sheltered corner, heated by the sun, protected from the wind, with
softened earth. Several Robins have discovered it and provide a refreshing
glimpse of Spring, a hopeful preview.
This corner of the world is no place for public
