One ruffed grouse walking along the bike/walking path that runs along the
eastern side of Lynde Shores Conservation Area. Seen about 10 m north of the
drainage pond. This individual is probably a juvenile and was very tame. It
approached me and my dog and was about 1 m away.

The American White Pelican can still be observed at Second Marsh in Oshawa. On
Sunday evening it was on the sand bar in the marsh, sitting alone ( not with
the cormorants ).
If it is resting, the bill is not visible and you may confuse the body with
that of a swan.

This morning a whip-poor-will was found in Thickson Woods. In a large scrub
pile west of the small boardwalk, it was perched on a relatively low, open
branch, giving excellent views.

There are a group of approximately 40-50 Horned grebes along with 100 Red
necked grebes and an equal number of Long-tailed ducks in Lake Ontario just
south of Cranberry Marsh. This group of birds have been there both Wed. and
Thurs. ; Yesterday a Common Loon was seen among these birds along wit
Over the last two days, the following ducks have been seen in Cranberry Marsh:
Blue-Winged Teal
Green-Winged Teal
Mallard
Gadwall
American Wigeon
Northern Shoveller
Ring-Necked Duck
Greater Scaup
Bufflehead
+ Many Mute Swans, Canada Geese and 1 Trumpeter Swan
3 Ruddy Ducks were
2 Little Gulls seen over the Marsh ( 1 adult, 1 imm. ) along with many
Bonaparte Gulls and a few Caspian Terns.
A Palm Warbler was observed on the Marshland Trail, just north of the viewing
platform.

This morning at 8:45 I spotted a SWAINSON'S WARBLER at Thickson Woods. Had a
nice long look at the bird as it jumped around in the undergrowth just
inside the entrance and caught another brief look about twenty minutes later
near the top of a small tree along the first trail that leads west insi
until you reach
Gordon St. Turn South ( left ) onto Gordon. At the base of Gordon is the
where the Waterfront trail trAvels through the g=rounds of the Mental Health
Centre. There is a parking lot on the left, also at the base of Gordon St.
