Just had a Tufted Titmouse appear at the feeder this morning. My yard backs
into Thickson Woods. Other notes today, both House and Purple Finches, both
Nuthatches, a Cedar Waxwing, and all the regulars. Thickson Woods is at the
very south end of Thickson Road in Whitby a
First two male Baltimore Orioles have appeared at my feeders in Thickson Woods
today at 3 30, along with another small influx of the expected Warblers
including Nashville and Black-throated Green and Blue. Several Lincoln Sparrows
along with White-throated and Crowned.
Exit 401 in Whitby go
At 5 30 this morning there were 2 Woodcocks calling along the waterfront trail
west of Thicksons Road. Exit 401 at Thickson Rd south drive until the road
ends, park in the cul de sac and walk west along the trail.

Just had good looks at a Philadelphia Vireo at the entrance to the meadow in
Thickson Woods down the path entrance. Thickson Woods is at the very south end

Canada Warbler is currently,at the bottom of Cool Hollow Trail as it
intersects with the Oshawa Trail, is currently in the spruce to the right if
the sign.
Oshawa Second Marsh is off off 401 exit at Farewell st turn left on Col Sam
Drive and follow it to the end, as mentioned early by Geoff
About 1 30 today a male Indigo Bunting showed up at my backyard feeders in
Thickson Woods. Last seen at 2 pm. Feeders can be seen off Corbett ave in
Thickson Woods. Thickson Woods is at the south end of Thickson Rd Whitby

The Mandarin Duck is still present at Lynde Shores conservation area. The bird
most likely an escapee looks to be alert, pruning and in good health, other
than the photographer lady trying to capture it in a fish net, who feels it
needs rescued.

At 530 this evening amongst the shorebirds at the Sobey's ponds in Whitby there
was a Buff-breasted Sandpiper. The ponds are on the east side off Montecorte
south of Victoria. Enter at the north fire hydrant. The bird was directly out
from the hydrant amongst the sand and stones on a little jut

on Montecorte on the east side.

At 6 30 this morning I had a Red-headed Woodpecker in the backyard at Thickson
Woods. This is most likely the same one from the meadow 2 weeks ago.
Thickson Woods is at the bottom of Thickson Rd south in Whitby. The Woods and
Meadow are on the east side down the lane way with the yellow gates
11 Species of Warbler noted today with, Mourning, Wilson's, Northern
Waterthrush and Canada Warblers in the mix. Other notables Terri Martin
pointed out to others a Red-headed Woodpecker in the meadow. Also of note a
Yellow-billed Cuckoo, and still a few Scarlett Tanagers around.
Directions as
Did not walk into the woods today of note which leads me to think there are
still birds coming through. In my front yard from 3 to 4 today in the birch,
Poplar and Spruce. There were 3 male Scarlet Tanagers, Warbling Vireo,
Magnolia, Tennesee's singing loudly. American Redstarts, Blackpoll's,

Spent the day at Rondeau, but here is what was reported at Thickson Woods.
Warbler species
Well it was not a fallout, however it seemed like there were birds in every
tree. It started early and at 7 :30 p.m., there was still birds to be found
everywhere. 19 species of Warbler were counted including 3 Canada Warblers,
Orange-crowned,Blackpoll, and a Wilson. It was not just the species
I had stated yesterday that it was the best day yet. Today topped that
especially in the morning just after the rain.
Warblers included at least 6 Bay-breasted, and 6 Cape May, and a few
Blackpoll's. Several Veery, and Swainson Thrush were seen. 4 Species of Vireo

Well today was the best day yet with many more arrivals. 2 Male Scarlet
Tanagers stayed around all day and were 6 ft or lower several times allowing
for great photos (except me).

A strange day indeed. We experienced Sun, cloud, sleet and even some snow. I
took a walk through the woods at 5 p.m., and it was very quiet until I got to
the lane way. There in just a few trees there was 2 Blackburnian Males, 3 Blue
Gray Gnatcatchers, 1 Magnolia Warbler, 1 Male Redstart, 1
Looking at Friday nights Nexad radar it showed no south to north movement last
night. Just west to east rain. So not surprisingly there were no real new
arrivals. All Warblers seen on Friday were seen again, except the Blue Winged
and Orange Crowned. Glenn Coady noted 3 Pine Siskin in one of
Many arrivals this morning. Warblers seen included.

Quite a few Nashvilles.

The vociferous Yellow warblers were calling everywhere.

The Western Tanager was present again today at Durham Court Pk. At 1pm. Today's
light allowed for great views as it perched out in the open at the west end of
the park close to the fence by the tracks, allowing for great photo ops.

Currently right at the corner of Canon Smith Dr and Fitzroy st in Fitzroy
Harbour Ottawa area are a dozen Pine Grosbeaks and 6 Common Redpolls in and out
of the cedars to the ditch.

parking lot of the Seaton Hiking trail on the south side of hwy 7 in north
Pickering in the Hamlet of Green River. They were calling as we'll.

I walked the path opposite Thickson's Woods this morning. West along the lake.
I had 2 Willow Flycatchers in 2small treetops. Both identified through a very
distinct fitz pew call and very very faint eye ring. Further along as well
just past the bird feeder there were 20 Bank Swallows landing
There is a male Green Winged Teal in the Thickson's Woods marsh at 6pm today

woods I had one molting male Scarlet Tanager at the entrance which gave 2
people beside me a life list addition. One Canada Warbler by the green podium.
