Hi all,
I saw one of the two reported Black Vultures in Port Stanley this afternoon.
They have apparently been around since last week. Today, it was perched with
about 20 Turkey Vultures in some trees near the corner of highway 4 and Warren
Street (42.676269,-81.216022)

Kiah just had a Gyrfalcon fly over his yard in Mar, just north of Wiarton west
of highway 6. He described it as "grey morph juv. crippling view, right

Might be of interest to keep an eye out for if you're in the area.

I just saw the adult Slaty-backed Gull at the Westminster landfill in south
London. It was in a field with the gulls west of the intersection of Manning
Drive and White Oak Drive.
Be careful out there, roads are slippery and there are whiteout conditions.
Good birding,

Unfortunately just the messenger...

Hi all,
Nothing has been posted here yet to my knowledge, but there is a Yellow-Crowned
Night-Heron that has been around for about a week in Kinsmen Park in Caledonia.
I saw it this afternoon just after 2:00 feeding on the northern shore of the
island near the dam, pretty much directly in
It's that time of year again!
This evening I briefly observed a female Dickcissel on Scotland Drive south of
London, where they bred last year. So far just the female, but hopefully it is
just a matter of time before a couple males will join her.

I know not a provincially "rare" bird, but certainly a very interesting one for

Although not all to rare, I thought I would just write a quick post on the
blackbirds in north London.
The first wave of blackbirds for the area came in this morning (I was out all
day yesterday and saw none), starting with seven Red-winged Blackbirds.

I got a call from some friends who said that they are looking at the Tufted
Duck from the Hamilton side of the lift bridge where the canal opens up into
the bay (where I saw it on Tuesday, and where it was seen yesterday). Good luck
to those who try for it!

It appears the message was referring to last Friday (thanks to everyone that

Sorry for any confusion! I still may see you in Hamilton tomorrow...and maybe,
just maybe, I will be able to genuinely say that the Tufted Duck continues!
Good birding,
Quinten
The male Tufted Duck was seen today at about 3:30 at the Burlington lift bridge
in the canal (I believe). I unfortunately wasn't the observer (my day will
come!), however it was reported to the Hamilton Birders group.

Hi everyone,
The Townsend's Solitaire continues in Dufferin near Shelburne (not that we
expected it to go anywhere soon!)

the group heard it calling off and on long before it was seen. I actually

Hello,
There has been a report of a drake Barrow's Goldeneye in London today by Ben

Springbank/Greenway park area. I know that at least four birders, including
myself, went out looking for it this afternoon,
Hello All,
Not overly rare, but certainly noteworthy were two Golden Eagles late this
afternoon in Newbury on Argyll Road. Golden Eagles are known to overwinter in
the area, so no doubt they will be around for a little while.
Argyll Rd is located between Dundonald Rd and Watterworth Rd near
Hi all,
This afternoon, after my Northern Gannet dip (which conveniently showed up half
an hour after I left), I checked out Snyder's Flats, where the female Mountain
Bluebird has been. After about an hour of searching, we eventually located her
on the north side of the second parking lot
Hi,
Despite spending a couple hours looking, we were unable to find the Northern
Gannet in Hamilton/Burlington.
We did however have a 3 loon day with Common Loons and Red-throated Loons
coming with 10 feet of the pier. A bit further out was a Pacific Loon in the
company of two Common Loons.
Owen Ridgen just texted saying that they have located the bird in Bate's
subdivision on 2nd Street.
Also present is a Ross's Goose, two Snow Geese, Tufted Titmice, Blackpoll
Warbler, and a possible Oregon junco.
I will hopefully be on the scene in a couple hours!

Hi,
Not my sighting, but I thought I'd get the word out about an American White

Hi,
This morning I got the chance to go down to Blenheim and see the continuing
American Avocet. It has been around for over two weeks now, and it looks pretty
happy where it is so there is still probably time to see it if you would like
to.
The bird is in pond #1 in the Blenheim Landfill.
Hello all,
This afternoon I saw what I think could POSSIBLY be a Cattle Egret in north
London while in the car. It was flying away from me, and seemed to be entirely
white. It's flight pattern reminded me of the CAEG I saw in Blenheim last year.
I can not rule out a gull because of the
Hello All,
I'm sorry to disappoint, but this is unfortunately not a current report. While

Hi All,
I was lucky enough to see the Fork-tailed Flycatcher in Tommy Thompson Park

of some phragmites in the 2nd Cell. It was observed sallying multiple times.

I kid you not. This evening during the last hour of the Charitable Big Day, I

of my ability by 10s. There were likely more than
I accidently sent my last message before finishing it...must've pushed a key or

Tonight there were not only the Red-necked Phalaropes that have been reported
the last few nights, but also an Eared Grebe that was first spotted this

and swam around with the Wood Ducks and phalaropes
This evening there were two Red-necked Phalaropes at the Strathroy Sewage

my knowledge since 2014, when there was one found also in
Due to auto-correct, my previous emails got a little screwed up, but I think
the point got across. Today, the juvenile Wood Stork was being seen in flight
from about 10:30 until 2:15. I saw it around 11:20, when it flew 20-25 feet off
the ground right over a group of ~5 of us on the Tip.
There have been rumours that the Wood Story has come back from Pelee Island and
is being seen at the Top and West Beach. Good Luck!

On the 9th I spent a couple hours at the West Perth Wetlands (Mitchell Sewage

Hello,
Unfortunately, I was unable to find the female Violet-green Swallow at Marina

her. I may be able to visit once more before I
Hello all,
This morning I checked out Marina Park for the female Violet-green Swallow.

Today I observed 3 male Dickcissels (DICK) south of London and the 401 on
