Abundant or Increased Counts: Red Breasted Nuthatches,Blue Jays, American
Crows and European Starlings each tripled their last year totals; American
Tree Sparrows were well counted and American Goldfinch numerous.

North Bay Christmas Bird Count, December15, 2018 - Preliminary Results
Most Abundant Birds Observed: Black Capped Chickadees were abundant;
woodpeckers and nuthatches frequent; many Mallards; and grosbeaks were well
counted, with 41 Pine and 50 Evening Grosbeaks.
Specialty Birds Observed
Today around 5:30 p.m. a Cattle Egret was found by Dick Tafel in the
Optimist Club Field beside the Palangio Arena, Wallace Road, North Bay. I
subsequently saw it around 6:00 p.m. in the south field with Canada Geese
and Ring-billed Gulls. This is the first chance I have had to report it to

Lark Sparrow seen September 3 at 5:10 p.m. in the town of Warren, 32 km.
from Sturgeon Falls on Hwy 17. It was with a flock of other sparrows,
mainly Chipping Sparrows. The flock was on the move and I have only had an
opportunity to report sighting now.
