On Monday March 31st while walking home along the speed river near
Gordon St. at about 10pm myself and Holly Dodds saw the Black-crowned
Night Heron hunting near the bridge at Gordon st along with a Great
Blue Heron. The bird stayed for around 2hrs until flushing to some
trees on the south side of the river not to be rediscovered.
Upon searching for the night heron again today (April 1st) around 3pm
east from the Gordon intersection of the river along where it turns
into the Eramosa River, I got to see one Belted Kingfisher, another
Great Blue Heron, a pair of Ring-necked Ducks and a pair of Common
Goldeneye along with multiple Common (5) and Hooded(4) Mergansers.
Good Birding,
Maggie MacPherson
