At 415 today spied a smaller male snowy on a southern fence-line along the
Lincoln Alexander Parkway between Upper Wellington and Upper James Directions
Take Hwy 403 south exiting onto the eastbound "Linc" .The snowy was on the
fence lining the Parkway "Life's a journey ,not a destination "

Had 3 short eared owls in two trees just off concession 6 ,east of the Owl
sanctuary property yesterday at 340pm .Direction : Take Hwy 3 out of Cayuga
,turn left on Regional road 53 headed towards Selkirk ,turn left on Concession
6 ,Owl sanctuary property is about 1/2 way .

First it was the winter invasion invasion of the snowy owls .Now the white
pelicans. While fishing at the mouth of Sandusk Creek today at noon we had four
white pelicans do a fly by headed west . The mouth of Sandusk creek is on Lake
Erie west of Selkirk and east of Nanticoke at the end of Cheap
Just had two peregrines engaged in aerial battle over my house .Ottawa st N and
Main st. Hamilton . No apparent damage for either bird .The apparent loser flew
off towards the escarpment to the south and the victor flew overhead for a few
minutes soon heading north towards the bay

Had a beautiful male Scarlet Tanager in blazing spring color today upsteam from
the boardwalk bridge on the RBG property today
Directions : From Toronto,head west on the QEW making your way onto Hwy 403
eastbound .Exit at #6 Hwy exit onto Plains Road ,head west to the RBG facility

-Was out to St.Catharines hospital Jan 5th finding 3 snowies ,2 jouveniles
and one apparent female .Two were on roadside fence posts and one in the field
behind the hospital .
-Directions :QEW southbound to St. Catharines, exit at 7th St. Louth, turn
right onto 7th until you reach 5th Ave Lout
On Saturday Aug.11th I spotted two Great Egrets coasting the Lake Erie
shoreline above Peacock Point . Sorry for the late report.

During the past week July 20th-27th at my cottage on Peacock Point, Lake Erie
(between Nanticoke and Selkirk) .I was witness to :
at least 1 adult bald eagle hunting over the lake .
2 -3rd year juvenile balds cruising the shoreline .

-Selkirk-Nanticoke with my friend John Niewiadomski .In our travels we came
upon many red tails , 6 kestrels, 1 short earred owl , 2 female or

During my work duties today at Dofasco in Hamilton I was witness (from above )
as the female peregrine took a young night heron at the edge of the slip
between
U.S. Steel (formerly Stelco ) and Arcelor Mittal Dofasco (formerly Dofasco) .I
was 23 stories up looking out a cargo door as the young
I had a report from a knowledgeable friend(without internet access) that the
Gyrfalcon was spotted on Dec 24th north west of Wellandport near the
intersections of Hwy 20 and Hwy 27. A male snowy owl was spotted in Hamilton on
the "Linc" around Garth Ave on Dec.23rd sitting on a light standard.
Witnessed a pair of adult balds fishing at along and at the mouth of Sandusk
creek west of Selkirk last week . These birds have been spotted hunting the
shoreline of Lake Erie preiodically all summer . Also saw a pair of
immatures(1st year) "playing" over the lake off of Peacock Point on Aug 18t
The area of Indian town line and Cheapside road appears to be holding at least
12 dark and light phase roughies .This appears to be holding area in a plowed
field south of I.T.Line down C.S. road on the east side .A number of birds on
the ground hidden amongst the dark earth clumps and white sno
Spent Sunday touring around Nanticoke hydro station. Found 20 mature and
immature bald eagles in total .Found 8 balds out on the ice at the warm water
outlet of the plant . Found 6 mixed age birds in one tree in the field directly
