Hi Ontbirders:
This morning there were several flocks of snow buntings and horned larks east
of the Casselman area. The birds were mostly concentrated along Ste-Rose and
Concession 19 to 21 with a flock of 250 snow buntings on Concession 21. A few
mixed flocks (150 birds) of snow buntings a
Interesting the report on the Nashville Warbler. While visiting the FWG
yesterday, someone mentioned having photographed a Nashville Warbler behind the
visitor centre on Saturday morning (if I recall). I did not see the photo
myself but she showed it to others from what I understand. I though
A flock of Bohemian Waxwings was seen again today feeding in the same tree at
the Fletcher Wildlife Gardens.
I first heard them down by the canal. The flock took off in various directions
in small groups. They were also perched in trees right at the entrance to the
FWG along Prince of Wales.
Further to Don's report, this must have been the same flock seen feeding in or
near the backyard garden at the Fletcher Wildlife Gardens. Also a small flock
of Starlings feeding on the berries at the same time.

Hi Ontbirders:
What a surprise and treat it was to see a flock of 10 Evening Grosbeaks at the
feeders on Hilda Road this afternoon. Last time I saw this species at the Hilda
feeders was about 3 or more years ago. Posting from my iPhone. Will post
photos later. Happy birding.

I have seen the stray Cattle Egret in past years but it was quite the treat to
see so many together in one spot. I'll post a couple of photos later. They
are here as of 5:50pm.

Hi Ontbirders:
Some of us were treated to close-up looks at Snow Buntings today on Petrie
Island. Initially there were 5 but the number increased to 9 late in the day
(counted every one). It's at the same location as in previous reports.
The Lapland Longspur was last seen late Thursday. Two
Hi Ontbirders:
Bairds Sandpipers can still be seen along the shore at the Easter part of
Andrew Haydon Park. They were around up to about noon. Didn't see them in the
late afternoon.
In the same area approximately 18 or so Blue-winged Teals were resting in the
water (very skittish). Thanks.
The Great Egret was seen feeding again this morning near the mudflats in the
west most part of Andrew Haydon Park. A Great Blue Heron feeding in the same
spot.
Also seen this morning were Kildeer, 2 Spotted Sandpiper and a flock of 16
Least Sandpipers. Happy birding.

My apologies. That should have been Spotted Sandpipers. I should get out of
the heat :-)
Pied-billed Grebes can still be seen in the storm management pond on Aquaview
Drive in Orleans (east end of Ottawa). The pond is bordered by Lake Point on
the one side and Silverado Crescent on the other
As timing would have it, by the time I walked back to the car and then
backjust in time to see the Great Egret take flight headed eastward and
then over to the Quebec side. It's likely to be back.

While birding Andrew Haydon Park I saw 1 Great Egret feeing in the shallow
waters at the west end of the park next to the mud flats near the marina. A
Great Heron is at the same location.
With the recent and ongoing heat wave, water levels are low in a number of
places. If the low precipita
Hi Ontbirders:
The hawk owl at Moose Creek was seen perched this morning near the railroad
tracks along Valley Street.
There were early indications in the Fall this species was on the move with a
couple of sightings near Montreal and one even in Vermont. Happy birding.
