4 Arctic Terns, Britannia Point, Ottawa. The birds were perching on the rocks below the rapids and flying up and down the river.
Observed at 1.30pm from the Water Filtration Plant/Britannia Point. Also, 1 Common Tern (probably 2nd Summer?) and 6 Black Terns. Note: A scope is required and it is 'Open Ottawa Day', so there are a couple of Water Treatment workers in yellow jackets marshalling traffic to turn right at the fork in the road. You need to slow down and indicate that you want to go straight on to the end of Cassels Road (see directions below). Directions: (from downtown Ottawa): Courtesy of Christina Lewis "Britannia Point" - Take Hwy 417 west to exit #129 (Pinecrest / Greenbank Rds.) then go north on Pinecrest to Richmond Rd. Right (east) on Richmond to Carling Ave. Right on Carling and take the 1st left onto Poulin Ave. Follow Poulin to Britannia Rd.. Right (north) on Britannia to where it ends at Cassels St. Go right (east) on Cassels and take this road right to the very end; park at the gravel area near the public boat launch beside the filtration plant fence.
