About 1:p.m. today at Oshawa Harbour while looking for the first year male
King Eider, Jerry Ball and I spotted an adult male Barrow's Goldeneye, which
was likely the bird seen nearby on Wednesday. We saw the Barrow's from the
end of Oshawa pier looking east towards Oshawa Second Marsh. It was with
about 120 Common Goldeneyes just offshore. It was too far for photos and a
scope was needed, but this may be an easier option for those who do not wish
to walk from the GM parking lot to the lake and along the shore to Harmony
Creek. We didn't see the King Eider.

Directions: From 401 in Oshawa take Simcoe Street South to Lakeview Park
parking lot. The pier is to the east.

Happy New Years,

Jean Iron
