South-eastern Ontario birders:

A male Barrow's Goldeneye was found among a flock of about 40 Common Goldeneyes this afternoon east of the hydro power plant with the two tall towers along highway 33 (Bath Road), opposite number 6707 Bath Road where some boats are in winter storage.

There were several Goldeneye flocks alongthis section of Bath road. If they are close to shore they fly out when cars stop, and they dive a lot. The very calm water made viewing ideal this afternoon.

Highway 33 follows the shore of Lake Ontario west of Kingston, past the Amherst Island Ferry dock, and Bath to the ferry to Picton. The hydro power plant with the two tall towers is at the junction of highway 33 and County road 8 which runs south from Napanee.
