Today at approx. 11:30 am a male Bobolink in breeding plumage was gurgling away
on a bare tree on the east side of the meadow.

The meadow itself (should be called The Shrubbery now) was ruled by Gray
Catbirds and Yellow Warblers. Other birds of note were Baltimore Orioles,
Rose-breasted Grosbeaks, Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, Warbling Vireos, a Least
Flycatcher, a White-crowned Sparrow…

Warblers seen or heard by me: Yellow-rumped, Orange-crowned, Yellow, Northern
Parula, Black-throated Blue, Black-throated Green, Nashville, Chestnut-sided,
Common Yellowthroat.

Several types of thrushes were seen by birders not named Joyce.

To reach Thickson's Woods and the meadow, take Highway 401 to exit 412
(Thickson Rd.) and follow Thickson Rd. South toward the lake about 2 kilometres
to the end of the road.
