While going for a quick walk on a beautiful sunny morning with my wife yesterday on Kennedy Street West (between Murray and Yonge St. - the section with the large lots/houses and many tall mature trees) I heard/saw numerous birds ( Cardinal, N. Flicker, chickadees, a Nuthatch). The trees along this part of Kennedy are always full of/and variety of birds particularly in the springtime. At just past 9:30 a.m. I heard the loud twittering of what I thought was a nest full of chicks in a large tree to the side of us. I looked up and at first saw only a Robin but no nest. I then caught movement high up in the tree ( near corner of George St.) of birds moving about from branch to branch and vocalizing their constant twitter. After about 5 minutes a first group flew off (about 30+) heading east toward Yonge St. A minute later the rest (about 20 or so ) flew off in the same direction. They were Bohemian Waxwings ( a bit bigger then Cedar Waxwings). Last week we had a flock of about 15 Cedar Waxwings on our street (Kennedy Street West) feeding on the new buds of the young street side trees along our section of the road.
