A flock of roughly 100 Bonaparte's Gulls were actively foraging close to
Chimney Island near Mallorytown Landing this morning. They were mixed in
with Hooded merganser, bufflehead, common merganser, ring-necked duck and
common golden-eye. Directions: Exit 401 at off-ramp #675, go south until
you reach the 1000 Islands National Park administration buildings and the
1000 Islands Parkway, go left on the parkway for about 5 minutes until you
reach Chimney Island. There is a small public pull off there to view the
birds and the river.
