Decided to try to fill two holes in my year-list this morning by taking a trip to Peterborough Area and Burleigh Falls. Was not disappointed.... saw both birds. At Lock 25 on the Trent, I initially didn't see the Snow Goose among the geese on the water but then noticed about 50 geese circling to land ... among them a Snow Goose (White Phase).... elapsed time ~1 minute. Then traveled to Lock at Burleigh Falls and upon arrival did not see any birds whatsoever on river or at lock then spotted a single bird by the waters-edge. It was the Brant. Elapsed time ~30 seconds. Must have been my day.... both target species without much effort. However, I wonder about the health or capability of the Brant. All alone, no other bird in site within bino range ??? Even though it looked to be in good shape, I wonder if it is wounded and cannot fly. Obviously, I did not chase it to check out this premise. Just wondering !!! Bruce
