Hi Birders,

Well, persistence pays off, even in the Region of Waterloo...at 4:30pm
today, I found a single *Buff-breasted Sandpiper* at the sod farms, just NE
of St. Jacobs. A scope is recommended, as the heat haze was fairly decent.
This is a first record for Waterloo Region (#293).

Other shorebirds seen at the Sod Farms today, include:
American Golden-Plover - 1 juv. seen first thing this am
Black-bellied Plover - 1 bird this afternoon
Killdeer - 85
Lesser Yellowlegs - 9
Solitary Sandpiper - 1
Pectoral Sandpiper - 1

The location of the sod farms is only a few km from where the *Snowy Egret*
has been. The Egret to my knowledge was seen as recently as yesterday (as
reported on eBird), and is most likely still there (its hard to see).
Particular attention should be paid when parking along Northfield Road at
the bridge over the Conestoga River. The bird has been observed on the
river, between Northfield Road and Glasgow Street (to the NE).

Directions to the BBSA:
Heading north from Waterloo, take Northfield Drive, over the Conestoga
River (where the Snowy Egret is), to the town of Conestoga. At the set of
lights, turn left onto Sawmill Road. After a few kilometres, turn right
onto New Jerusalem Road (at the Greenhouse). Take this north (right) about
1.5km. All the way on your left (west) is a barren field, where shorebirds
have been observed. I observed the BBSA from the laneway 1.5km north of
Sawmill, south of the northernmost puddle.

Good Birding,
