A bit of a strange observation, but perhaps noteworthy for June. -- Yesterday at the Toronto Zoo - My lovely girlfriend Jenn Bock and I came accross 3 Cackling Geese in the "Africa" exhibit, mainly staying on their own away, but nearby to other "wild" Canada Geese and Mallards.
As far as I could tell, they did not seem to be captive "zoo birds" - unclipped wings - no bands - both hallux were present - they don't come from Africa I've posted some pictures of one of the birds on my website here, under the June 14 entry: http://peregrineprints.com/ind__Blog.htm So in short, the birds look like they're wild - unless someone knows some back story as to why they might not be? Something to keep an eye out for if visiting the zoo this summer!
