Merry Christmas to all The Carleton Place CBC was conducted on Dec 27, a cloudy 
and mild day.  We had 48 species total on the count day plus a Red-Bellied 
Woodpecker and Great Blue Heron during the count week for a total of 50 species 
which ties the old CP record from 1984.  A total of over 8100 individuals were 
seen which is close to the CP record of 8800 in 1987 and up from 2011 CBC by 
nearly 2000 birds.  There were 30 field observers in the 10 areas and many 
records were broken for species number plus the addition of 6 Bluebirds in the 
Wolf Grove section.  This is a first! Some of the other highlights were|: 
Canada Goose new record at 475 - up from 395 in 2006RN Pheasant - new record at 
4 - up from 3 in 1955Mourning Dove - new record at 425 up from 376 in 2002Crow 
new record at 1053 - old record of 584Raven new record at 34 - old record of 32 
in 1991Starling new record at  1527 - up from 1290 in 2002Mallard new record at 
35 - old record of 20 in 1993Bluebirds - 6 - never seen on CBC before Snow 
Buntings, Redpolls, Goldfinch and B Waxwings all lower Best Wishes to all for
