Ontbirds Subscribers, Although not necessarily a bird to chase I did want to note that I had a Common Raven carrying food over my house the other day (Monday May 14), it was heading in an east northeasterly direction and I believe it is likely nesting somewhere in the vicinity of Bond Lake (east side of Yonge Street between Stouffville Road & King Road in north Richmond Hill) - I say this because there are many tall White Pines growing around the lakeshore and it is a relatively undisturbed area with only the Oak Ridges trail going around the south side of the lake.
I have been seeing 1 or 2 birds for a couple (or more) years now, and have reported up to 4 birds (1 definitely a young bird last year as it was calling to the parents as it flew over), very good evidence of nesting so close to the city, and in fact within the normal 50km circle of the GTA. Cheers & good birding, Frank Pinilla Richmond Hill, ON _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
