Hi folks! While photographing Redpolls and Goldfinches in my yard in Orleans ( Eastern part of Ottawa) this afternoon I noticed at approximately 2:15 PM a large bird soaring high up. I turned my lens in its direction and it continued to come closer ...a Juvenile Golden Eagle . Quite a surprise on this freezing cold day. I managed several photos and then lost sight of the bird when I fumbled for an extender in my coat pocket to bring the bird in closer. I think it flew west of my position because a few minutes later 6 crows were hurrying in that direction with a few others heading that way moments later. For those familiar with Orleans it looked like the bird was looking down on the lands behind the Walmart on Innes and Belcourt ( behind the woods and the water tower)
