I was thrilled to have a very brief but close encounter with a Golden Eagle today. I was driving westbound on the Mulmur/Nottawasaga Townline when the eagle flew across the road about 10 metres in front of me at approximately eye level. My first thought was juvenile bald eagle but as it flew, it caught a beam of sunlight and the tan/gold on his head and neck was crystal clear. The bird continued maybe a 100 metres or so and flew into some fairly dense deciduous trees. Of course I had no camera or binocs with me. Went back a couple hours later with binocs and saw an eagle-sized bird sitting in a tree about where it entered the woods earlier. It did fly (but stayed in shadows so I could not pick up any colouration) and quickly disappeared. I was not able to lock the binocs on it. Cross roads are Mulmur Centre Line and Mulmur 2nd Line East.
