Weather: Not a hawkwatch day. Heavy scudding overcast, almost a drizzle with the wind light and varying between E and ENE. Visibility was about 2KM and it was hard to pick up birds even as they came over the bushlot across the field by the lone Elm. Temp got to a high of 14C. Raptor Observations: Not much of a flight today and no surprise with such heavy air and light winds for the count period. Only 40 birds were tallied. Most of the count was Sharpies (36) along with singles of N. Harrier, Cooper's Hawk, Broadwing and Kestrel. Non-raptor Observations: Not many "others" reported today...some Common Loons (6) and a single YB Sapsucker. Only a couple of Monarchs spotted. Predictions: The next few days are forecast to bring a definite change as a cold front passes across the region on Friday. If we see the forecast stronger SW winds behind this front we might just get some good flights along the cliff...and it's coming up on Peregrine prime time. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown (thebro...@ezlink.on.ca) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
