Weather: The early morning rain let up by 9:00 am and the birds started moving. Winds were moderate to strong from the WNW and skies broke out fairly quickly in the morning. Temp started at 8C and reached a high of 10C. Raptor Observations: A typical mix of species for this timeframe with a total count of 878 of 8 different species. TVs (720) made up the bulk of today's flight...along with Sharpies (144) and small numbers of N. Harriers (5) and Kestrels (4)...a couple of Cooper's Hawks and singles of Bald Eagle, Red-shoulder (a nice low flying bird) and Redtail. Non-raptor Observations: No report submitted today. Predictions: Another windy day though with more sunshine than today. Unfortunately, winds are predicted to be strong from the SW and with the bulk of the Peregrines likely already gone through there's not many birds likely to be using the lift at the cliff...rather, this wind may just push whatever other species are on the move tomorrow further inland. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown (thebro...@ezlink.on.ca) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.on.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
