Visitors:
Up to 8 visitors today including Steve Wagner (OH), Patrick Tomlinson (OH),
Jim McCoy, Frank Dolby (PA), and Betty Learmouth.

Weather:
Partly to mostly cloudy and hazy skies with Southwest winds at 1 to 7 mph
in the AM turning West-southwest and West in the PM and increasing to 8 to
12 mph. Haze clearing with slight shift in wind direction (to West). Warm
and humid with temps. ranging from 21.5 to 25C. Visibility very poor up
until around 1200 EST when it began to improve incrementally by the hour.

Raptor Observations:
Slightly more diverse flight today than yesterday, otherwise similar
composition and numbers. At least 2 Broadwings put down in the trees to the
East of the Tower in the afternoon; therefore not counted. Looking forward
to their passage tomorrow along with many more.

Non-raptor Observations:
11 species of waterfowl,

Black-crowned Night-heron- 3 (1 ad., 2 juvs.),
Bald Eagle- 6 locals,

Shorebirds included Killdeer(15), Greater(1) and Lesser(2) Yellowlegs,
Pectoral Sandpiper(1), and Wilson's Snipe(1).

Chimney Swift- 22,
Ruby-throated Hummingbird- 2,

RED-HEADED WOODPECKER- 5 (1 ad.(1018), 4 juvs. (0740, 0930, 0955, and
1055),

Least Flycatcher- 1,

Blue Jay- 11,980,

Blue-gray Gnatcatcher- 1,

Red-eyed Vireo- 1,

Low diversity of warblers on the ground; only 6 species noted. 2 Cape Mays
most noteworthy.

Cedar Waxwing- 47,

Indigo Bunting- at least 1,
Purple Finch- 1,
American Goldfinch- 848,

Other:
Monarch- 15,
few dragonflies today.

Predictions:
Partly cloudy skies with North winds around 5 mph. High of 21C. Forecast
looks great. After half a week of lousy migration conditions the flood
gates should open up tomorrow with raptors pouring through. One more big
push of Broadwings, perhaps.
