Both couples were visiting for the first time and had great views of many migrants. Don't forget that this weekend is the Festival of Hawks! Weather: Temperatures 18-26 degrees C today, with sun for most of the day. Light winds 6-10 km/hr out of the southwest and south all day. A few clouds rolled in during the afternoon. Raptor Observations: Not huge numbers, but a steady trickle of migrants today due to the south winds. But still a decent number of Sharp-shinned Hawks and a nice showing of American Kestrels went by. Non-raptor Observations: Today's headliners: Two Red-headed Woodpeckers (both hatch year birds), three Redheads, one Hooded Merganser, and a very large flock of dabblers (mostly Mallards, but with other species mixed in).
