Weather: Cold start but sunny with cloudy periods, temperatures ranged from -1 to 4 Celsius, winds light from the SSE. Raptor Observations: Many Bald Eagles around the marsh today with as many as three adults and five immatures sitting on the ice out in the marsh today. Migrants included Bald Eagles, Turkey Vultures, Coopers Hawks, one Northern Goshawk, Red-shouldered Hawks and Red-Tailed Hawks. Non-raptor Observations: The strangest sighting was a Kildeer on the ice at the edge of an open water patch. Twelve Muskrat were spotted at the same time on the ice or in open water in the marsh. A Chickadee and two Song sparrows, a Northern Flicker and several Cardinals were seen near the base of the Tower. Migrants included one Pine Siskin, 56 Cedar Waxwings, 50 American Goldfinch, 570 American Crow, and 46 Tundra Swans. One Great Blue Heron remains in the marsh. Predictions: Tomorrow is the last day of the 2014 Hawk Count season.
