Total observation time: 7 hours

Official Counter: Bob Hall-Brooks

Observers: Larry Ludwicki

Visitors:
There were no visitors to the Tower today.

Weather:
Cold start but sunny with cloudy periods, temperatures ranged from -1 to 4
Celsius, winds light from the SSE.

Raptor Observations:
Many Bald Eagles around the marsh today with as many as three adults and
five immatures sitting on the ice out in the marsh today. Migrants included
Bald Eagles, Turkey Vultures, Coopers Hawks, one Northern Goshawk,
Red-shouldered Hawks and Red-Tailed Hawks.

Non-raptor Observations:
The strangest sighting was a Kildeer on the ice at the edge of an open
water patch. Twelve Muskrat were spotted at the same time on the ice or in
open water in the marsh. A Chickadee and two Song sparrows, a Northern
Flicker and several Cardinals were seen near the base of the Tower.
Migrants included one Pine Siskin, 56 Cedar Waxwings, 50 American
Goldfinch, 570 American Crow, and 46 Tundra Swans. One Great Blue Heron
remains in the marsh.

Predictions:
Tomorrow is the last day of the 2014 Hawk Count season. The weather
forecast is iffy but I will be there to count the last few birds.
