The Harris's Sparrow is fairly reliable, with patience at the James Snow Pond (
NW of Derry rd and James Snow Parkway, in Milton). I have seen it on three
different days, including today. se video above. You need patience and seeds
to place on the path between the two houses on GOWLING Terrace, in Milton
Some of you have been asking about the Western Grebe, at Saddington Park (west
of Port Credit). I looked hard for it today, but no luck. I did see 68
Red-necked Grebes at the horizon, but could not see the WEGR. You need a good
scope to see it, although Mourad J. photographed it closer to the Credit River
yesterday. It is best to park at the Saddington Park west side, walk to the
lake and west along the main path to the top ( about 75 m) with the fence
behind you, then carefully scope the lake. This is where we had it on Tuesday

This morning Rob Dobos, Dave Don and I relocated the Harris's sparrow that
was reported on ebird earlier in the week. Up until now the bird has only
been seen at a private residence. The bird was seen this morning near the
stormwater pond on Kearns Road near Derry and James snow parkway. Access to
Kearns is off Trudeau. Seed has been placed here and on the walkway in
between 1623 and 1625 Gowlings Terrace. The bird was frequenting the cedars
and with a group of juncos.
The bird was later refound by Mike Hallet in the cedars in the northeast
corner of the stormwater pond.
The stormwater is fenced off and is a construction site during the week.

Directions
QEW to Bronte Road, to Derry Road and then east on Derry to just west of
James Snow Parkway. Turn left on Trudeau and then right on Kearns. The
stormwater pond is at the bend in the road.
