This first winter bird is *best viewed today from the sidewalk at 185 Ross Road looking across the street.* It is under the feeder and cedar trees in front of 186 Ross with a mixed flock of White-crowned, White-throated, Lapland Longspur, etc. To approach the house at 186 will flush all the birds. I will alert my neighbours that a few birders may be watching their feeders from a reasonable distance. Feel free to call me if you are coming to look (905 870 8584). Scope not really necessary...
Directions: From North Bay, drive 4 hours north to Cochrane on Highway 11; follow hwy 11 north west at Cochrane (well signed); in Smooth Rock Falls, turn right just after the Moose Motel onto Dupont, left onto Main St., then right on Ross Road. *Please park on the roadside a little up the street so as not to scare the birds*.
