Hi All, there were 5 returning Least Sandpipers, a Spotted Sandpiper and a Killdeer on the mud flats at the western end of the harbour at Prince Edward Point NWA this morning.
Dave To reach Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory and the NWA, from Picton. Take Main Street from the east end of downtown Picton, go down to the bottom of the hill and turn immediately right onto Union Street (directly across from Tip of the Bay Motel). Follow Union Street up out of Picton (it becomes County Road 8) for 2.5 km, at the junction in the highway, turn right onto County Road 17 and follow it for 6.5km, turn left onto County Road 16 and continue to the stop sign at the end (about 1km). Turn right and follow County Road 13 past the Black River Cheese factory and continue for 23.5 km to the Prince Edward Point National Wildlife Area (County Road 13 eventually becomes Long Point Road). At Ducks Dive Charters the road turns to gravel, continue for 2.5 km to the bird observatory, the harbour is a further 100mtrs. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
