Folks:
While doing a trail in the Pinery this afternoon with the family, I had the pleasure of running into Maris Apse and his family. He mentioned a Snowy that had been seen all winter up until at least this past Friday east of Exeter. So on the way home, while looking for the Snowy, to no avail, we had the pleasure of spotting a large flock of near plumaged Snow Buntings and mixed in were at least 5 or 6 breeding plumaged Lapland Longspurs. Very nice treat to finally see them at their best. Just as we were leaving, happened to notice a flock of 6 Helmeted Guinea Fowl on a nearby farm. While not 'countable', nice to see in any case. Also, just to mention, had a Winter Wren and a Sapsucker on the Riverside trail in the Pinery. The Buntings and Longspurs were on the north end of Sunshine Line, just off highway 83 east of Exeter. Good Birding, and thanks Maris....
