Good Evening All, At approximately 2:15pm this afternoon, I observed a solitary Northern Shrike flying NE across the Old Airfield (Mew Lake Campground) in Algonquin Park.
The bird was carrying a prey item (either a mouse or a vole) and did not remain very long, but just long enough to get a look at it's curved bill. Directions: Highway 60 to Algonquin Park. Mew Lake campground is approx. Km 30. Follow road in to campground, Old Airfield parking lot less than 1 km in on left (follow signs). By foot follow Old Railway Bike Trail (signs posted) to airfield. Permit required. Good Birding!
