The Northern Wheatear at 4000 Milton Rd, Ottawa (south east part of the City) is still present for its second day.
A number of birders asked about the age / sex of the bird. The bird is 150 + feet away from the road and it has been windy and views have been good but not perfect. A number of photos have been examined and there seems to be a consensus that the bird is a fall adult male. For those with a copy of The Birds of Europe by Mullarney et al. (Princeton Field Guides) there is a great picture likeness of the bird on page 265. Hopefully the bird will remain for another day at least. The Ottawa Convention is less than a week away, we could only hope!!!
