Hi Ontbirders
Today at noon I observed two Barrow's Goldeneye, 1 male and 1 female, at
Deschenes Rapids. There were feeding in the rapids on the Ontario side and
would drift down stream and than flew back up stream and repeat. There were
around 100+ Common Goldeneye also feeding in the rapids ar
just like Bruce D said two days ago i went to the rideau tennis club and saw
the two barrow's goldeneyes and i think some female lesser scaups.
around 10 a.m. december 16/09 till 10.30 a.m.. they were in mid river but
closer to the east side of the Rideau River. some lesser male and female scaup

Spent a couple of hours birding along the Ottawa and Rideau Rivers today. The
Ottawa River is still wide open except for some shoreline ice and sheltered
bays frozen. The Rideau River was mostly open but a few stretches of calm water
were frozen. There were still 2 male Barrow'
Hi Everyone
Yesterday at noon the two male Barrow's Goldeneye were still frequenting the
Rideau River north of Hwy 417 near the Rideau Tennis Club. There in a flock of
60+ Common Goldeneye. Spent an hour towards dusk observing gulls coming in to
roost on the Ottawa River off Andrew Haydon Park.
Hello Ontbirders
At around 9:00a.m. this morning there were 2 adult male Barrow's Goldeneye
feeding in a mix flock of diving ducks off Andrew Haydon Park . The flock of
100+ ducks included Common Goldeneye, Greater Scaup, Lesser Scaup, White-winged
Scoter and Surf Scoter.
