My wife and I visited Britannia C.A. this morning around 11-12:30pm.

Supplemental to Mark Gawn's report this morning, an adult BALD EAGLE was
hunting along the Ottawa River at 11:30am, mostly chasing waterfowl along the
ridge. The eagle came to rest in the pines around Mud Lake, but was inevitably
chased off by crows. The last we saw of it, it was heading west towards Andrew
Haydon Park.

Also at Britannia on the river were several COMMON GOLDENEYE, a male HOODED
MERGANSER, and three male RING-NECKED DUCKS. We also found a female WOOD DUCK
on the river near the eastern end of the ridge.

In the southeastern woods were a half dozen male NORTHERN CARDINALS all
foraging together. A pair of PILEATED WOODPECKERS were in the heavy woods in
the southwest.

Good birding!

Pat

DIRECTIONS: From Carling Avenue heading west, take the right onto Britannia
Road and follow to the end. Turn right onto Cassels Street and the entrance is
a quarter of a kilometer down the street.

If coming along Carling Avenue heading east, turn left onto Richmond Road, then
left onto Poulin Avenue. This will connect to Britannia Road; follow to the
end and turn right onto Cassels Street.
