I missed the OFNC outing to the Airport this morning due to work, so I headed
out there this afternoon to see what I had missed. Almost all sparrow species
were accounted for, including several SAVANNAH and SONG SPARROWS, 3 CHIPPING
SPARROWS, 2 FIELD SPARROWS, 5 VESPER SPARROWS, and 5 CLAY-COLOURED SPARROWS.
Flycatchers were also in high numbers: 4 EASTERN KINGBIRDS, 5 GREAT CRESTED
FLYCATCHERS, and 7 LEAST FLYCATCHERS. In blackbirds there were 4 BOBOLINKS, 1
EASTERN MEADOWLARK, and 5 BALTIMORE ORIOLES (4 male, 1 female). I also noted 5
EASTERN BLUEBIRDS (3 male, 2 female), 4 HOUSE WRENS, 2 GREY CATBIRDS, 1 male
NORTHERN FLICKER, 1 OVENBIRD, and 2 BROWN THRASHERS.

DIRECTIONS: From W. Hunt Club Road and Riverside Drive, follow Riverside east
to where it becomes Limebank Road. Follow Limebank and turn left onto Leitrim
Road. Go past the airport on the left and turn right onto Bowesville Road.
You can park at the first curve, following the many trails to canvas the area,
or you can continue on Bowesville to Earl Armstrong Road, turn left. Follow
Earl Armstrong to the end, and turn left onto High Road. At the end of High
Road there is another series of trails. Either entrance can be productive -
watch for dirt bikes!
