*Point Pelee National Park Migration Update for May 14, 2010: *

A dense bank of fog greeted birders early this morning, but the sun shone
through, making for a glorious day. Strong W-SW winds overnight followed by
heavy showers early this morning created excellent fallout conditions, with
27 species of warblers observed across the Park. The Tip had 23+ warbler
species, included a singing 1st-year male KIRTLAND’S WARBLER observed by
many. A KENTUCKY WARLBER was also at the Tip. A CONNECTICUT WARBLER was
observed along the Post Woods trail north of the Tip. A YELLOW-BREASTED CHAT
was heard along the Chinquapin Trail. CERULEAN WARBLER was at the Tip and in
the woods across the road from the Marsh Boardwalk Trail.

There was a report of an adult PACIFIC LOON in breeding plumage, off the
west side of the Tip. Other highlights included a RED-HEADED WOODPECKER at
the Tip, and an OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER seen from the tram pick-up point at
the Visitor Centre. WILLOW FLYCATCHER was observed in Tilden Woods and at
the Tip. GRAY-CHEEKED THRUSH was also at the Tip.

We have not heard any reports from outside the Park.

Good Birding,

Hike Leaders Pete, Karl, Todd, Justin, Marianne, John and Jeremy
