* * *Point Pelee National Park Migration Update for May 11, 2010: * Rain greeted birders this morning, along with strong east winds. Those who braved these winds at the tip viewed Surf Scoter, a Common Loon, and White-winged Scoter, while a Great Black-backed Gull was on the east beach just above the tip. In the woods near the tip there was a Red-eyed Vireo, Brown Thrasher, and a Black-and-White Warbler. In the interior of the park the Common Nighthawk reported from yesterday on the west side of Tilden Woods Trail was observed on the same Black Walnut tree. Warblers are scattered and included a Cerulean Warbler near the Shuster Trail, while along the Tilden Woods Trail Blue-winged Warbler, Black-throated Green Warbler, American Restart, Ovenbird, Chestnut-sided Warbler andNORTHERN PARULAwere observed. A male INDIGO BUNTING was seen near the east seasonal birding trail on Tilden Woods Trail. A female Purple Finch was seen at the Cemetery. Woodland Nature Trail produced Canada Warbler and Tennessee Warbler. At the north end of the park near Sanctuary Picnic Area a Northern Parula, Blackpoll Warbler and a male Summer Tanager were observed.
