I just came across a female Prairie Warbler on the Port Weller east pier. There are a good number of songbirds on the pier today, particularly in the southern half.
The Prairie is associating with a big mixed flock along the centre main trail, just north of the St Catherine's marina. To get to Port Weller east pier, take the Niagara Street/Regional Road 48 exit from the QEW in St Catharines, and drive north towards Lake Ontario. Stay on Niagara Street for 5 km, then turn right onto Lakeshore Road. Drive over the Welland Canal and take your second left onto Seaway Haulage Road, approx 500 m after crossing over the canal. Follow Seaway Haulage road north towards the lake. it will turn into Broadway, follow Broadway to the end and park in the little parking lot at the terminus of Broadway at Lake Ontario. Park here and follow the path to the west (George Nicholson Memorial Trail on google maps) which will lead you to the base of Port Weller. Follow the main trail (it looks like a continuation of Seaway Haulage Rd on Google Maps) to the north for approx 1 km.
