Shorebird migration close to peaking for many species in southern Ontario. This morning at Ressor Pond we had an eastern subspecies of the Short-billed Dowitcher (nominate griseus) in breeding plumage. This subspecies breeds mainly in Quebec and is much less frequent in Ontario than the inland subs

This morning at Reesor pond : a pair of Semi-palmated Plovers and a flock of about 60 Least Sandpipers showed up along with a couple of Common Terns at 8am. E27, a Trumpeter Swan, has been around for a week. Reesor Pond lies just north of Hwy 407 on Reesor Road in Markham
