Shorebird migration close to peaking for many species in southern Ontario.
This morning at Ressor Pond we had an eastern subspecies of the Short-billed
Dowitcher (nominate griseus) in breeding plumage. This subspecies breeds
mainly in Quebec and is much less frequent in Ontario than the inland
subs

legs - thought it might be a Black [some hope] but it showed bright orange
soles - 1 Stilt Sandpiper showed up yesterday - 1 Pectoral last week and
there are the usual Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs - Reeosr Pond lies just
north

about 60 Least Sandpipers showed up along with a couple of Common Terns at 8am.
