Good morning birders,

Birding was excellent first thing this morning but activity has died down
quite a bit since as the day warms.

Several interesting sightings on South Point Trail early on included a
Summer Tanager and Cerulean Warbler near the eastern parking lot,
Connecticut Warbler and Yellow-breasted Chat. Unfortunately, birds often
don't stick around on this trail throughout the day, but these birds could
still be present. A Grasshopper Sparrow continues just east of the washout.

Prothonotary Warblers continue to be seen somewhat irregularly at the
Maintenance Loop and at the back of Tulip Tree Trail.

A possible Blue Grosbeak was reported from the north end of the campground.

Clay-colored Sparrow is still being seen around the cottages at the
beginning of Marsh Trail, and 6 were present here last evening.

Both species of cuckoo have been reported at several locations.

A Red-shouldered Hawk was seen flying over Rondeau Rd. north of Spicebush
Trail.

A very late Fox Sparrow was at Pony Barn this morning.

Thank you to everyone who contributed sightings and please continue to do
so at the Visitor Centre or to me through email.

eBird users submitting checklists from the park are encouraged to share
them with the username "RondeauPPVisitorCentre" for our records.

More information on the park's nature programs and the Friends of Rondeau is
available at the Friends' website: www.rondeauprovincialpark.ca.

Directions: Take exit 101 from Highway 401 and drive South 16 km on Chatham
Kent Road 15. Turn right and follow the signs to the park. Bird sighting
information, bird checklists, bird feeders, and breakfast and lunch offered
by the Friends can be found at the visitor centre. To reach the visitor
centre from the park gate, travel 6 km South on Rondeau Road to Gardiner
Ave., then follow it around the bend to the parking lot. I lead guided
hikes in the park twice daily - contact the visitor centre for more
information.
