Ontbirds subscribers,
At 7:15 a.m. this morning I was passing the corner of Victoria St. West and Gordon St. in Whitby when I noticed an adult white morph Ross's Goose in among a flock of Canada Geese on the playing fields on the south side. I pulled over onto Gordon St. to have a good look at the bird. As it became progressively brighter the Canada Geese began departing to the north and after about 5 minutes they and the Ross's Goose had headed off north over Hwy 401. It might be productive to search for it in the fields to the north, particularly those to the northwest adjacent to Lakeridge Road and Hwy 412 north to Rossland Road. Perhaps this bird will return to the Whitby Harbour area in the afternoon when the Canada Goose flocks return to the lake. Gordon St. is immediately to the west of Brock St. in Whitby (Exit 410 on Hwy 401) just south of Hwy 401 on Victoria St. West. The playing fields are just across the road from the Abilities Centre.
