About 600 shorebirds, a real rarity to see this many in Hastings, are feeding
in the north lagoon of the Tweed sewage lagoons. South lagoon empty.

Estimated 300 dunlin, 125 semipalmated sandpiper, 15 least sandpiper and 10
semipalmated plover. I'll check my photos for rarities, none seen yet.

Directions:. Tweed is on Hwy 37, 35 km north of Belleville, or 10 km south of
Hwy 7. From the Tim Hortons, go east on Sulphide Rd for 1.5 km, then south on
Lajoie Rd to #159 Lajoie. PLEASE drive slowly on this dead end road, and park
on sides of road, giving way to ATV's and farmers. Traffic is rare however.

The shorebirds are favouring an area below your feet, giving great close-up
views in the morning and early afternoon light.

Give yourself an extra hour to explore the forested TransCanada trail, at the
foot of Lajoie road, to sex-up your Hastings ebird list with song birds.
