As of yesterday afternoon, the Slaty-backed Gull was still visiting the
North Bay landfill site, located on Sand Dam Rd, approx. 30 km north on
Highway 11 from town of North Bay.
With the great help of other birders from the Ottawa area, we were able to
see the adult gull, which was

Frank Pinilla and I had the Slaty-backed Gull come in very briely this evening
at 4:36 pm from Olmsted Beach at the west end of Trout Lake. It landed on the
water for only minutes before taking flight with the entire group of about 75
Herrings, several Great-Black Backed and Glaucous Gu
The Slaty-backed was readily noted at the North Bay landfill site again this
morning.
It was also seen at 3:45 at the westerly end of Trout Lake, having
finished gorging at the dump. The latter sighting might best be viewed with a
scope. There would also be present about 75 Herring Gu
